This year is the year of Snake for Chinese. The first day of Chinese New Year fell on 10th February, 2013. We had a whole week about Chinese New Year in Hope. On Friday 8th February, we had a small Chinese New Year Party, making Chinese New Year Arts and Crafts and listening to Chinese New Year songs. Children greeted teachers ‘Xin Nian Kuai Le’ (Happy New Year) and the teachers delivered the red envelopes to the children.

This is a paperplate fish.
The Chinese characters underneath (Nian Nian You Yu) means prosperity every year.
In Chinese, fish is pronunced as 'Yu', it's the same sound as 'surplus' as well.
